Vasa Festival of Races - See You There!
The weather is on a roller coaster, but overall the Vasa course is holding up and it will no doubt be (as Chief of Course, Jim Heffner says) "The BEST damn Vasa ever!" The Vasa Festival of Races is in its 41st year, and has enjoyed great community support for all of those years.
Whether you're a seasoned racer or one who simply loves to be a part of the fun, there's something for everyone! Saturday will be all freestyle ski races, the Junior Vasa, and the fat bike races. New this year is the "Collegiate Challenge, with our host team the University of Michigan. Rumor has it that Notre Dame will be sending a few of their skiers too. Sunday will be all classic ski races. This is the first year that the Vasa will be running the classic and the freestyle races on separate days. The idea is to give the classic skiers a better quality race with a double-tracked course just for them. Also new this year is the "Vasa vice versa." Yes, the race will run the reverse direction that it typically runs so you can see the other side of the trees!
Race details an be found on www.vasa.org or like them on Facebook.
