I hope you are all staying cool on this very warm July 1st. Here is a quick update on club activities and a call for help next weekend at the Cherry Festival running races. Have a great 4th!
- Summer Training Program: The youth and Master's training programs are solidly underway. Club funds purchased 10 pairs of roller skis from our friends at Brick Wheels for use in the program. Folks are certainly getting out on skis if you have not noticed. Your support has made this happen!
- VSC board is exploring options to partner with United States Ski and Snowboard Association for long range strategic planning. USSA is the governing body for Nordic skiing and the club is exploring ways to partner with them tocontinue to grow the sport in our region for the long term.
- Hickory Hills is moving a ton of dirt. Work is underway at Hickory Hills and this includes some world class Nordic trail building. Please support Preserve Hickory and get ready to ski.
- Youth Nordic Camp July 22-24th. Our incredible coaches will be taking youth skiers to Sleeping Bear Dunes for the annual VSC Youth Summer Camp. If youhave a young skier that is interested in improving their skills and socializing with a great peer group, please contact coach Ruth Oppliger. This is the best value in town and the kids have an awesome time.
Cherry Festival of Races
We need additional people!
Each year the VSC helps out at the start of the Cherry Festival running races. This is an early morning fundraiser where we help set up the start. We also hold some signs for start waves and fill a few cups of water. We are in and out before you know it. Please consider joining us on the morning of Saturday July 7th for a couple hours. The aproximate time is 0600-0900.
Fundraisers like this one allow the club to put kids and big people on skis and you know how good that is for our community. Take a little time and help us get people outside in the winter. Please email Eric Jean firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help us out. Thanks
