The Vasa Ski Club is dedicated to promoting lifelong participation in cross-country skiing through quality programming, athlete development, and community engagement throughout Northern Michigan.
About the Role
The Vasa Ski Club is seeking a part-time Executive Director to help support and grow our programs, events, and community initiatives. This role focuses on keeping club operations running smoothly while supporting our members, program leaders, coaches, and volunteers.
This is a flexible position where success is measured by results, communication, and program support rather than a fixed number of hours. Workload varies seasonally, with increased activity during program registration periods and Winter season.
Goals
Compensation will be based on experience assuming a 10-20 hour work week as well as incentives based on the amount raised.

- Staff, Contractor Coordination
- Manage registration systems for programs and events
- Set up, timelines, pricing, and participant communications
- Oversight for scheduling, planning, and organization of club activities
- Support program leads to ensure successful delivery of youth, junior, adult, and community programs
- Serve as a communication link between the Board, program leaders & volunteers
- Attend Board meetings and provide operational updates
- Help coordinate equipment, staffing, and facility needs across programs
- Research and write grants to further the mission of the club
- Assist with sponsorship outreach and donor engagement
- Support fundraising initiatives and long-term financial sustainability efforts
- Increase club visibility through social media
- Edit VSC website to maintain current content Annually review website for effectiveness to support VSC programs
- Promote club events through press releases and community postings
- Maintain newsletter or other strategic member communication
- Maintain communications database
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and communication with contract staff
- Help track certifications, compliance requirements, and employment documentation
- Flexible, part-time schedule
- Some evening and weekend availability is required during program and event seasons
- Workload varies throughout the year
- Position may include a combination of remote and in-person responsibilities
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience coordinating programs, events, or nonprofit operations
- Comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines
- Experience working with volunteers, coaches, or contract staff
- Grant writing or fundraising experience is helpful
- Interest in outdoor recreation, youth sports, or cross-country skiing is a plus
